Leap Motion is an American company that manufactures computer hardware and sensors that support both finger and hand motions. Formed in 2012, the company was acquired by UltraHaptics in 2019.
The software providers offered a service that allowed you to process the images on your computer screen. The images also include objects in the background and factors affecting the overall ambiance of the projection. The software then analyzes and reconstructs a 3D representation of what it sees. Although Leap Motion was once tipped to make keyboard and mouse redundant it has not lived up to expectations and now focuses entirely on virtual reality.
